We are not registered Certified Organic however, we consider ourselves as Biological Farmers practicing Organic Farming methods.
We have our own beliefs as to how our animals should be treated and how we should farm our land. We DO NOT use chemicals on our land or our animals. We DO NOT use Genetically Modified feed. We DO NOT use Growth Hormone. We FREE RANGE all of our animals, CATTLE, SHEEP and PIGS and we make sure they are stress free at all times. We care for the environment and our animals. We understand our animals.
There are too many loopholes in the Certified Organic system. Certain synthetic compounds are allowed to be used to produce animals and crops. We believe that the people who write the Organic standards are not farmers. Do they know that cattle don’t eat grains in their natural environment? We produce Beef, Lamb and Pork as nature intended. We live and look after the animals every day of the week, all year round. We know when they are happy or when they are unhappy (“ok, we’ve been in this paddock for 2 days now, I know there is still feed here, but we want to move to a nice fresh paddock”) Do they understand the animals like we do?
The Certified Organic standards insist on having annual soils tests for chemical residue in the soil. We conduct regular soil tests to see how fertile our soil is, does it have a good quota of worms, good bacteria, mycorrhizal and saprophytic fungi, Nematodes, Flagellates, Amoebae and Ciliates? We practice biological farming. We use Seasol fertiliser and Compost Teas on our pastures.
We have invested in our own microscope and undertaken a microscope course so we can test our compost and soil and see how fertile it is. Before we started biological farming, we wondered why there were certain paddocks our animals didn’t like. It looked green the same as the others, but within a day or two the animals let us know they wanted to get out of there. Our fertility soil test told us why. There was no nutrient in that paddock, no fungi, very little bacteria, worms, nematodes, flagellates etc. An audit from the Organics auditors would have looked for chemicals in the soil and said “very good, there is no chemical in this soil”. But we know it was not healthy for the animals.

Organic Farming Pasturefed Meat
Health Benefits of Pasture Fed Beef According to research published in Meat Science, beef raised on pasture have up to a tenfold increase of beta-carotene in their muscle tissues compared to grain fed cattle. Pasture-fed beef also feature up to four times more vitamin E than meat from feedlot cattle. Beta-carotene and vitamins E and C act as powerful antioxidants that can enhance immune function and protect cells from the dangers of free radicals—highly unstable oxygen molecules that can damage normal cells and lead to cancer. This antioxidant action also is linked to a lower risk of developing cardiovascular disease. Pasture fed beef has more EFAs than cattle raised on grain, with up to six times more beneficial omega-3 fatty acids. EFAs are polyunsaturated fats that help regulate mood, body temperature, organ function, insulin balance and joint health. EFAs also help enhance metabolic rates and lower blood pressure and blood cholesterol levels, resulting in a reduced risk for atherosclerosis, heart disease and stroke. And they play a vital role in reducing your risk for cancer and Alzheimer’s disease
